Black River believes in team-based projects and expects our interns to challenge themselves and their peers. The internship team meets with experienced engineers bi-weekly for mentoring and discussion. These are hands-on projects that typically provide a mix of detection and tracking algorithm development, hardware selection and integration, signal processing, and software development that culminates in a prototype unit with a final presentation. One thing that sets Black River’s intern program apart is that senior engineers and top-level executives are involved throughout the summer to provide feedback and technical direction. The work completed by our interns is valued and used to explore exciting new business opportunities!
Black River Systems 2022 Summer Internship Program focused on researching an emerging unmanned air system (UAS) threat and how to defend against it. The intern team gained technical expertise in many areas by developing advanced RF signal detection algorithms, implementing direction finding approaches, interfacing with high performance software defined Radios, and evaluating prototype specialized RF processing hardware. The research done by the intern team directly benefits Black River’s modern counter UAS systems that are in use around the world!
